system and nervous system. These interactions include cells of biologics system
and physical process of human body. In the neuroendocrine system the

Symptoms of neuroendocrine tumors
Symptoms for
neuroendocrine tumor depends on where and which hormones are involved.
Like diarrhea, constipation
or stomach aches may be caused due to tumor in the digestive system which is
called as gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumor.
Wheezing or
persistent cough is caused due to tumor in the lung called as pulmonary
neuroendocrine tumor.
Large amounts of
hormones are released in the blood stream due to some tumors called functioning
tumors and these show symptoms like flushing, cramps, diarrhea, wheezing,
Hypoglycemia, also chances of blood pressure alteration and heart problems.
Causes of neuroendocrine tumors
The causes are not
completed know but the following are some of the inherited causes
Multiple endocrine
neoplasia type 1 (MEN1)
Neurofibromatosis
type 1
Von Hippel-Lindau
syndrome (VHL)
Researchers say
that the chances of you developing neuroendocrine tumor is high if you have a
family background with any type of cancer.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Treatment for
neuroendocrinology includes surgery, radiation therapy or chemotherapy. These
treatments can either be used individually or in combination with other
treatments.
Compared to other
malignant tumors neuroendocrine tumor are slow growing but they can produce
amino acids that cause severe symptoms. To reduce these symptoms an aggressive
therapy is recommended or to prevent the liver damage.
