According to recent worldwide estimates about 1.7 billion people are classified as either overweight or obese, and more than 500 million have either prediabetes or type 2 diabetes mellitus. Most of the effected people are not able to get proper treatment due to financial and no proper awareness. Many other endocrine and metabolic conditions are also very prevalent and include postmenopausal states, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone diseases, and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
In the initial stages the hormonal disorder can be treated by taking the hormonal supplements or by taking medicines, but if it reaches the advanced stages surgical removal of the glands is necessary or other complex treatment procedure.
As we all know that prevention is better than cure or early treatment of many endocrine and metabolic conditions with effective change in the lifestyle of the individual is a preferred measure, but in advanced stage where therapy is required we prefer effective and safe therapies that have been tested and approved completely. Therapeutic advances in endocrinology and metabolism includes developments in both the existing and investigational treatment. The main goals is to make chronic diseases such as type 1 diabetes mellitus curable.

As therapeutic advances are being developed, keeping up with these changes and having a clear understanding of the new trends in research and technology is essential for our practice.
