Diabetic diet


The diabetic diet can be defined as a healthy food plan which has rich sources of nutrients and has low calories and fats. A healthy diet always includes fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Usually, a diabetic diet is suggested for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The diet plan is designed in such a way that it prevents the fluctuation of glucose levels in the blood.

Foods best for people with diabetes:

Oatmeal – Digests slower than the processed carbohydrates, prevents the release of glucose into the bloodstream slower and prevents the fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

Grapes  Having fruits specifically grapes, blueberries and apples have shown lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Olive oil – Improves insulin sensitivity as it contains monounsaturated fats, also helps to zap belly fat.

Eggs – Provides a great dose of proteins. People with diabetes are advised limited yolk three times a week.

Dairy -  Having calcium, magnesium, cheese, yogurt, and vitamin- D makes your body sensitive to insulin.

Kale – Rich in nutrients such as magnesium and vitamin – K, helps in controlling the blood sugar levels.

Fish – the Best source for people with high blood levels with omega- 3 fatty acids.

Cranberries – Contains large amounts of phytonutrients. Anthocyanins one of the nutrients especially good for diabetes.

Quinoa  Contains all nine essential amino acids. Help reduce fluctuations in blood sugar levels.

Apples – 40% of the bad cholesterol can be lowered by eating apples and lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Red onions – Contain antioxidants, high in fiber, potassium, and folate which are good for the heart.

Nuts   Contains Vitamin – E, unsaturated fats, omega – 3 fatty acids, fibers, plant sterols etc., which help arteries less prone to blood clots.

Asparagus – Contains high antioxidant called glutathione which reduces the effect of many diseases including diabetes. Increase the insulin production and keeps blood levels in check.
